Sandro William Junqueira visited CIV students
He discovered how much he enjoyed reading when he became ill with chickenpox and from then on, he read, read, read... He became a writer at the age of 25 and now has six books published. He wrote the first book for children when he was 34. "A grande viagem do pequeno Mi", which Sandro William Junqueira recently presented to Primary and 1º Ciclo students, was his first story for children.
"This book is born due to my fear of losing my imagination," he confesses, while showing the images of little Mi, a work he developed in partnership with the illustrator Rachel Caiano. The imagination is, in fact, a universe also explored in his first book for children: "A cantora deitada".
Sandro William Junqueira managed to make the audience laugh when he told a story while playing the guitar. Music, along with the theatre – where he has been working for 19 years - is one of his many areas of interest.
The author began publishing in 2009 (“O Caderno de Algoz”). Followed “Um Piano para Cavalos Altos” (2012), “O Caso do Cadáver Esquisito” (a novel he wrote together with 10 other writers, 2011) “Dez Contos para Ler Sentado” (together with other writers, 2012). The weekly newspaper Expresso has already considered him one of the writers for the future. His younger readers are eagerly awaiting the publication of his third book in September.
