CIV contributes with 1,277 books in "Solidarity Books" campaign for S. Tomé
The Loulé Council Libraries Network, Liga dos Combatentes - Loulé Nucleus and the Portuguese School of S. Tomé join hands in a campaign of solidarity
One thousand two hundred and seventy-seven was the number of books that the community of the Vilamoura International School (CIV) managed to collect in the "Solidarity Books" Campaign, promoted by the Loulé Council Libraries Network (RBCL) in partnership with the Loulé Nucleus of the Liga dos Combatentes and the Portuguese School of São Tomé and Príncipe (EPSTP).
The collection at the CIV was carried out by the Quarteira Parish Council. Together with the Loulé City Council and the Liga dos Combatentes - Loulé Nucleus, they are partners collecting the books in the 24 schools, who are part of the RBCL.
The campaign, which started on the previous school year as the main activity of the Reading Week, and which was abruptly interrupted for higher force reason, is now resumed with the aim of bringing to São Tomé and Príncipe the amount of books collected in all schools, especially children's books and school textbooks, in several languages.
The gathering started yesterday and began to reach the warehouses of the Liga dos Combatentes - Loulé Nucleum. The "Mountain of Solidarity Books" will then go to São Tomé, where the books will be received and distributed by the Portuguese School of São Tomé and Príncipe - Teaching and Portuguese Center Language, which has been playing an active role in the dissemination and promotion of the Portuguese language and culture since 2016, constituting as a reference institution in that country.
