40+ Years of History

Founded in 1984 by a dedicated group of local parents, teachers, and investors, our school began with the vision to provide high-quality international education in the Algarve. From a small kindergarten and primary school serving Vilamoura's first families, we have grown into a leading K–12 institution in southern Portugal. This growth reflects the increasing demand for international schools and the trust families have placed in our educational approach and outcomes.

Over the past 4 decades, we have evolved while maintaining our commitment to academic excellence and close-knit relationships with families. Our campus, integrated with nature, has expanded to accommodate growing student numbers, and our academic programmes have developed to meet the changing needs of our global community.

Our 2024 partnership with the Inspired Education Group has marked an exciting new chapter, connecting CIV's students to a global network of premium schools with opportunities for international exchanges, cutting-edge technology, and unique holiday camps.

Preparing Students for Global Futures with Our Dual Curricula

From the earliest years, we offer 2 distinct academic routes. The Portuguese Pathway follows the national curriculum from Preschool to Grade 12, while the International Pathway adapts the British National Curriculum in Primary, progresses through Cambridge International Lower Secondary and IGCSE, and culminates in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Grades 11 and 12, leading to qualifications recognised by universities worldwide.
