Erasmus + takes CIV teachers to STEAM training in Berlin
Under the Erasmus+ programme, Miguel Angelo Silva and Renato Martins – Maths and Physics teachers - atended a STEAM training in - Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics – at the Europass Centre Berlin, in Germany.
In addition to sharing projects between trainees from Portugal, Croatia and neighbouring Spain, the course "From Stem to Steam Education - a new learning approach" allowed the acquisition of knowledge in hard and soft skills, learning styles and the learning of concepts in "Models of a flipped classroom", "Design thinking projects", "Project-Based Learning (PBL)", "Makerspace in Education" and "Maker Movement Manifesto".
In the context of some of the themes, the trainees made some visits. It was the case of the "Motion Lab Berlin", a space for creating and experimenting with ideas and projects where the partners can enjoy "co-working" areas, as well as workshops spaces with various technologies and tools. These allow bridging the gap between an idea and a product ready to be marketed and presented to potential investors.
On the last day, the trainees prepared a STEAM class, during which the CIV teachers presented to the group a project to paint works by Mondrian and Kandinsky, using a rover or a raspberry pi.
It was clear the perception of the benefits and contributions of this teaching-learning model for students in the classroom context.
